The panel, which was formed in 1987 works with and is fully supported by Strathclyde Police Force but is not part of the Police Force.
Members are drawn from different walks of life and work on behalf of the local community, complimenting the police to help prevent crime.
We get regular crime updates from the police and support neighbourhood watch schemes.
Some of the other projects we have supported are:
- Light installation in Co-op Car Park
- Car Security Leaflets
- Car window etching and cycle marking
- Door Security - fitting of peep-holes and security chains
- Supplying Personal Alarms to vulnerable people
- Bogus Caller Stickers
- Seminars for local shopkeepers regarding cheque fraud and shoplifting
The Crime Prevention Panel presented drugs awareness officer Constable Desmond Fik with a drugs display box . Constable Fik commented “People of all ages respond extremely well to the display box and are often prompted into asking questions to get more in-depth knowledge about the items on display.”
