Helensburgh & District Crime Prevention Panel
The panel was formed in 1987 and works with, but is not part of the Police Force.
Members are drawn from different walks of life and work on behalf of the local community, complimenting the police to help prevent crime.
We get regular crime updates from the police and support neighbourhood watch schemes.
We set our own adgendas and office bearers are elected members.
Some of the projects we have supported are:
- Light installation in Co-op Car Park
- Car Security Leaflets
- Car window etching and cycle marking
- Door Security - fitting of peep-holes and security chains
- Supplying Personal Alarms to vulnerable people
- Bogus Caller Stickers
- Seminars for local shopkeepers regarding cheque fraud and shoplifting
For the young people we have held a school quiz with a crime prevention theme, presented timetable wallets with crime prevention advice, held poster competitions on various crime themes and have issued FAB Cards - Friends Against Bullying - to the local schools.
We have also organised “open days” at the local Helensburgh Police Office where members of the public were able to get an insight into the working of the various branches of the Police Force.
Every year we have a presence at the Faslane Fair where we can talk to the public and give out security advice.
If yuou wish to join our panel and are able to give a few hours each month to help in the prevention of crime in your area, please contact:
